The proposed relay deployment mechanism allows us to maximize network capacity for every user or to maximize total network capacity, and, therefore, to reach greater network capacity values while employing smaller number of relay stations.Abstract:
In this paper, we consider optimal relay station deployment for the IEEE 802.16j networks. IEEE 802.16j is an emerging wireless broadband networking standard that integrates infrastructure base stations with multihop relay technology. The proposed relay deployment mechanism allows us to maximize network capacity for every user or to maximize total network capacity, and, therefore, to reach greater network capacity values while employing smaller number of relay stations. With the proposed approach, the necessary number of relays for a region can be found.read more

Modeling and Analysis of Energy Efficiency and Interference for Cellular Relay Deployment
TL;DR: In this paper, the maximum energy gain provided by relays for several coding schemes, including energy-optimized partial decode-forward relaying, accounting for the additional relay-generated interference to neighboring cells is analyzed.

On optimal relay placement for improved performance in non-coverage limited scenarios
TL;DR: An analytical model is presented that can calculate optimal coordinates for low power nodes based on the input parameters, such as preferred number of nodes, their transmission power, parameters of the environment etc, which shows that even relatively marginal deviations from optimal coordinates can lead to worse system performance.
