Abstract
A field test program is described which was used to evaluate and then to adjust the 33 power system stabilizers installed on the Pacific Gas and Electric Company's system. Also included is a comparison of the results of these tests with those of a digital computer simulation.

Applying Power System Stabilizers Part II: Performance Objectives and Tuning Concepts

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance objectives of power system stabilizers in terms of the type of oscillations for which they are intended to provide damping, operating conditions for which the requirement for stabilization is greatest, the need to accommodate multiple modes of oscillation, and the significance of interplant modes.

Power stabilizer design using root locus methods

TL;DR: In this article, a different approach to the design of power stabilizers for damping out tie-line power oscillations in power systems is described, which can be applied directly to systems characterized by lightly damped oscillations and gives an explicit indication of the amount of improvement in system damping for different combinations of stabilizer parameters.

Power system stabiliser for multimachine power system using robust decentralised periodic output feedback

TL;DR: In this paper, a robust decentralised robust periodic output control is applied to the nonlinear model of a multimachine system at different operating points and 16 linear state-space models are obtained.
Journal ArticleDOI

Application of power system stabilizer on a system with pumped storage plant

TL;DR: In this paper, the application of a stabilizer to a power system with a pumped-storage plant is investigated, and the optimum stabilizer parameters for the pumping and generating mode operations are recommended.

Design of power system stabilizer for single machine system using robust fast output sampling feedback technique

TL;DR: In this article, a robust fast output sampling feedback gain which realizes this state feedback gain is obtained using linear matrix inequalities approach, which does not require state of the system for feedback and is easily implementable.

Computer representation of excitation systems

TL;DR: This paper suggests a common nomenclature and control system representation of the various excitation systems now available that can be used to define input data requirements for computer programs, and can provide a consistent format in which manufacturers can respond to requests for excitation system data to be used for system studies.

Excitation Control to Improve Powerline Stability

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of generator voltage regulators on powerline stability is closely scrutinized by analog techniques and it is shown that high-speed control of excitation to maintain constant terminal voltage actually hampers rather than aids damping and power line stability.
