Pretreatment of Crude Oil by Ultrasonic-electric United Desalting and Dewatering

TLDR
In this paper, the ultrasonic-electric united process was used for treating high salt-contenting crude oil for desalting and dewatering, and the results showed that it is more effective than the electric process in high salt content.

Theoretical and experimental investigation of desalting and dehydration of crude oil by assistance of ultrasonic irradiation.

TL;DR: Two inferential estimators are developed to obtain the relationships between the salt and water removal efficiencies, and input energy density and demonstrate that finding the optimum values of the above mentioned parameters is important to prevent a significant decrease in the Removal efficiencies of water and especially salt.

Mechanisms of Stabilization of Water-in-Crude Oil Emulsions

TL;DR: In this paper, the radial distribution function and the pair potential of water-in-crude oil emulsions have been measured using optical imaging technique, showing that non-DLVO forces such as attractive depletion and repulsive structural forces exist between the droplets.
