The Regulation of Cellular Systems

TL;DR: The basic equations of metabolic control analysis are rewritten in terms of co-response coefficients and internal response coefficients to describe the interaction of optimization methods and the interrelation with evolution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Directed evolution of a fucosidase from a galactosidase by DNA shuffling and screening

TL;DR: The library size that is required to obtain significant enhancements in specificity and activity by reiterative DNA shuffling and screening, even for an enzyme of 109 kDa, is within range of existing high-throughput technology.
Journal ArticleDOI

A comparison of the abilities of freshwater algae and bacteria to acquire and retain phosphorus1

TL;DR: The kinetic data suggest that planktonic bacteria are unlikely to be limited by phosphorus in situ and are consistent with the hypothesis that the bacteria should be markedly superior competitors at natural phosphate concentrations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Decolorization of Azo, Triphenyl Methane, Heterocyclic, and Polymeric Dyes by Lignin Peroxidase Isoenzymes from Phanerochaete chrysosporium.

TL;DR: The ligninolytic enzyme system of Phanerochaete chrysosporium decolorizes several recalcitrant dyes and the ability of the isoenzymes to decolorize the dyes in the presence of veratryl alcohol was generally comparable to that of the crude enzyme preparation, suggesting that lignin peroxidase plays a major role in the decolorization.

Enzyme Kinetics: A Modern Approach

TL;DR: The results obtained allowed us to assess the importance of knowing the carrier and removal status of canine coronavirus, as a source of infection for other animals, not necessarily belonging to the same breeds.
