Schematic Refutations of Formula Schemata

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a general framework for schemata of terms, formulas and unifiers and define a resolution calculus for quantifier-free formulas, which generalizes and improves former approaches to schematic deduction, and as an application of the method they present a schematic refutation formalizing a weak form of the pigeon hole principle.

Proofs and Explanations

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compare three deduction systems and present an example of proof and possible explanation of the same proof in a DL deduction system, using examples of DL deductions from Berardi et al (Artif Intell 168:84, 2005).
Journal ArticleDOI

Proof-theoretic strengths of the well-ordering principles

TL;DR: In this paper, the proof-theoretic ordinal of the well-ordering principle for the normal functions on ordinals is shown to be equal to the least fixed point of the normal function.
Book ChapterDOI

Some Notes on Cumulative Reasoning

TL;DR: A model-theoretic definition of non-monotonic inference relation is introduced and a particular model called C*.
