Current Concepts in Parasitology

TL;DR: The subjects discussed include the mechanisms of eosinophilia in parasitic infections, piscine immunity to protozoan diseases, survival strategies of trichuroid nematode, sero-diagnosis, purine and pyrimidine biosynthesis, metabolism as targets for antiparasitic chemotherapy, ecology of marine parasites, transmission patterns and evolution of nematodes as well as coevolution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Transport of nucleosides.

TL;DR: It is less certain that facilitated diffusion is the general mechanism of nucleoside permeation in cells other than erythrocytes, because it is experimentally difficult to demonstrate certain critical features of facilitated diffusion when metabolic processes are competing for intracel-

Mechanisms of resistance to 6-thiopurines in human leukemia.

TL;DR: The findings suggested that either a decrease in H-GPRT or an increase in alkaline phosphatase activities was responsible, at least in part, for insensitivity to 6-thiopurines in 5 of 11 ANLL and 6 of 7 acute lymphocytic leukemia patients.

Circadian variations of adenosine and of its metabolism. Could adenosine be a molecular oscillator for circadian rhythms

TL;DR: The biological implications of the periodic changes of adenosine concentrations in different tissues of the rat are described and the rhythmicity of this molecule, as well as its metabolism and even the presence of specific receptors, suggests a regulatory role in eukaryotic cells and in multicellular organisms.
