Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of renal failure on erythrocyte purine nucleotide, nucleoside and base concentrations and some related enzyme activities.

TL;DR: The mean activities of some of the enzymes involved in purine metabolism were raised in renal failure and erythrocyte phosphoribosylpyrophosphate levels were unchanged, and high-pressure liquid chromatography concentrations in erythrocytes and plasma were raised.
Journal ArticleDOI

32P labelling of the nucleotides in α-position in the rabbit heart

TL;DR: The time course labelling of inorganic phosphate, creatine phosphate, terminal phosphate group of ATP (γ-P (ATP), and of the α-phosphate groups of nucleotides was followed in the rabbit heart both “ in situ ” and in perfusion, and the methodology and the results are discussed in relation to synthesis of free nucleotide.
Book ChapterDOI

Immunological Aspects of Purine Metabolism

TL;DR: Evidence is presented of the need for a rapid rate of purine synthesis de novo for the proliferative events in this process and of the correction of the immune response by addition of ADA both in vitro and in vivo.
Journal ArticleDOI

Incorporation of the purine moieties of guanosine and inosine analogs into nucleotide pools of human erythrocytes.

TL;DR: It is proposed that the analog nucleosides are first split by purine nucleoside phosphorylase (PNPasc), liberating the corresponding free base, which then reacts with 5-phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate (PRPP) and the salvage enzyme, hypoxanthine-guanine phosphorIBosyltransferase (HGPRTase) to form analog monophosphate nucleotides.
