Reliability and validity of the Flanagan Quality of Life Scale (QOLS) were tested in four chronic illness groups and Appropriate validity coefficients indicated both convergent and discriminant construct validity.Abstract:
Reliability and validity of the Flanagan Quality of Life Scale (QOLS) were tested in four chronic illness groups. Open-ended questions and four instruments, the QOLS, Duke-UNC Health Profile (DUHP), Life Satisfaction Index (LSI-Z), and either the Arthritis Impact Measurement Scales (AIMS) or the Ostomy Adjustment Scale (OAS) were administered by telephone interview and mailed questionnaires to 227 adults three times over 6 weeks. Subjects generated verbal responses that substantiated the content validity of the QOLS. Stability reliability estimates for all instruments ranged from .53 to .90. Cronbach's alpha coefficients averaged .87 for the QOLS. Appropriate validity coefficients indicated both convergent and discriminant construct validity.read more

Psychometric assessment of the Quality of Life Index.
TL;DR: It was found that those who had higher incomes had significantly higher quality of life scores on the social and economic subscale, and support for convergent validity was provided by a strong correlation between scores from the QLI and an assessment of life satisfaction.

The Quality of Life Scale (QOLS): Reliability, Validity, and Utilization
TL;DR: The QOLS is a valid instrument for measuringquality of life across patient groups and cultures and is conceptually distinct from health status or other causal indicators of quality of life.

TL;DR: Significant benefits for the OT preventive treatment group were found across various health, function, and quality-of-life domains, and suggest that preventive health programs based on OT may mitigate against the health risks of older adulthood.

TL;DR: ACT is worth exploring as a treatment for OCD and produced greater changes at posttreatment and follow-up over PRT on OCD severity and on depression among those reporting at least mild depression before treatment.

The structure of psychological well-being
TL;DR: In the field of mental health, the split between hedgehogs and foxes roughly parallels that between theorists and empiricists as discussed by the authors, and the hedgehog's attempt to bridge that gap and pursue systematic data collection within the framework of a single unifying concept.

Measuring health status in arthritis ; the arthritis impact measurement scales.
TL;DR: A multidimensional index that measures the health status of individuals with arthritis has been developed and results indicate that the instrument is practical and that it generates scalable, reliable, and valid measures of both aggregated and disaggregated health status.

TL;DR: It is shown that antihypertensive agents have different effects on the quality of life and that these can be meaningfully assessed with available psychosocial measures.
