Spectroscopic identification of carbonate minerals in the martian dust.
TL;DR: Thermal infrared spectra of the martian surface indicate the presence of small concentrations of carbonates, specifically dominated by magnesite (MgCO3), which may have been an important sink for a thicker carbon dioxide atmosphere in the martians past.
Journal ArticleDOI
Luminous supersoft X-ray sources
P. Kahabka,E.P.J. van den Heuvel +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors carried out full evolution calculations from the zero-age main sequence to the supersoft source and found a new path for the formation of SSSs which differs from that of the, usually assumed, solar composition donors.

Adiabatic Quantum Computation is Equivalent to Standard Quantum Computation
TL;DR: The model of adiabatic quantum computation has recently attracted attention in the physics and computer science communities, but its exact computational power has been unknown, so this result implies that the adiABatic computation model and the standard quantum circuit model are polynomially equivalent.

On the parabolic equation method for water-wave propagation
TL;DR: In this paper, a parabolic approximation to the reduced wave equation was proposed for the propagation of periodic surface waves in shoaling water. The approximation is derived from splitting the wave field into transmitted and reflected components.
