Journal ArticleDOI

The second law, Maxwell's demon, and work derivable from quantum heat engines.

TL;DR: With a class of quantum heat engines which consists of two-energy-eigenstate systems undergoing, respectively, quantum adiabatic processes and energy exchanges with heat baths at different stages of a cycle, some important aspects of the second law of thermodynamics are clarified.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chopped random-basis quantum optimization

TL;DR: The efficiency of the chopped random basis optimal control technique in optimizing different quantum processes is studied and it is shown that in the considered cases it obtain results equivalent to those obtained via different optimal control methods while using less resources.
Journal ArticleDOI

Detection methods for stochastic gravitational-wave backgrounds: a unified treatment

TL;DR: The article considers both Bayesian and frequentist searches using ground-based and space-based laser interferometers, spacecraft Doppler tracking, and pulsar timing arrays; and it allows for anisotropy, non-Gaussianity, and non-standard polarization states.
Journal ArticleDOI

Steep Subthreshold Slope n- and p-Type Tunnel-FET Devices for Low-Power and Energy-Efficient Digital Circuits

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed n-and p-type tunnel field effect transistors (T-FETs) based on heterostructure Si/intrinsic-SiGe channel layer, which exhibit very small subthreshold swings, as well as low threshold voltages.
