The formalin test in mice: dissociation between inflammatory and non-inflammatory pain

TL;DR: It is suggested that the early phase is due to a direct effect on nociceptors and that prostaglandins do not play an important role during this phase, and the late phase seems to be an inflammatory response with inflammatory pain that can be inhibited by anti‐inflammatory drugs.
Journal ArticleDOI

The mechanism of the effect of aspirin on human platelets. I. Acetylation of a particulate fraction protein.

TL;DR: The evidence suggests that the physiologic effect of aspirin on human platelets is produced by acetylation of a single protein located in the particulate fraction, which may be related to cyclo-oxygenase, the prostaglandin G2 biosynthetic enzyme.

Effects of salicylates on human platelets

J.R. O'Brien
- 13 Apr 1968 -
TL;DR: The findings suggest that aspirin produces a specific and permanent damage to some enzyme pathway in the platelet or perhaps, at its membrane, atits membrane, andMegakaryocyte precursors may also be affected.

Improvement inearlysaphenous veingraft patency after coronaryartery bypass surgerywith antiplatelet therapy: results ofaVeterans Administration Cooperative Study*

TL;DR: Early vein graft patency was improved after CABG with all aspirin-containing drug regimens and was greater in all the treatment groups that received aspirin compared with the two nonaspirin groups.
Journal ArticleDOI

Improvement in early saphenous vein graft patency after coronary artery bypass surgery with antiplatelet therapy: results of a Veterans Administration Cooperative Study.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared aspirin, 325 mg daily, aspirin and dipyridamole (DMD), and sulfinpyrazone (267 mg three times daily), and placebo (three times daily).

A Simple Estimation of Salicylate in Serum

TL;DR: A gradually evolved modified version has been in use in this laboratory for over a year, being equally accurate but simpler than Camponovo's method, and showing a considerable difference in technique.
