TLDR
In this paper, a drift kinetic equation is derived which contains higher order effects and the upper bound appropriate to the drift ordering is only imposed so that the result is quite general and can be reduced to previous drift equations.Abstract:
A drift kinetic equation is derived which contains higher order effects. The upper bound appropriate to the drift ordering is only imposed so that the result is quite general and can be reduced to previous drift equations. The differential geometry of the magnetic field enters only trivially and a single recursion suffices to obtain the desired result.read more

Neoclassical transport of impurities in tokamak plasmas
S.P. Hirshman,D.J. Sigmar +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a closed set of moment equations is presented for the time evolution of thermodynamic and magnetic field quantities which results from collisional transport of the plasma and two-dimensional motion of the magnetic flux surface geometry.

Hamiltonian theory of guiding-center motion

Guiding center drift equations
TL;DR: In this paper, the equations for particle drift orbits are given in a new magnetic coordinate system, which separates the fast motion along the magnetic field lines from the slow motion across the lines.

Drift Instabilities in General Magnetic Field Configurations
P. H. Rutherford,E. A. Frieman +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a theory of low-frequency drift instabilities in a nonuniform collisionless plasma is developed for general magnetic field configurations including trapped particle effects, rather than the plane geometry which has previously received most attention.

Collisional Diffusion in Nonaxisymmetric Toroidal Systems
TL;DR: Collisional cross field diffusion in nonaxisymmetric toruses with high shear has been found, but a region of minimum diffusion is shown to exist which might provide an attractive operating regime for future reactor considerations as discussed by the authors.
