TLDR
In this article, the authors present a textbook for introductory courses in remote sensing, which includes concepts and foundations of remote sensing; elements of photographic systems; introduction to airphoto interpretation; air photo interpretation for terrain evaluation; photogrammetry; radiometric characteristics of aerial photographs; aerial thermography; multispectral scanning and spectral pattern recognition; microwave sensing; and remote sensing from space.
Abstract
A textbook prepared primarily for use in introductory courses in remote sensing is presented. Topics covered include concepts and foundations of remote sensing; elements of photographic systems; introduction to airphoto interpretation; airphoto interpretation for terrain evaluation; photogrammetry; radiometric characteristics of aerial photographs; aerial thermography; multispectral scanning and spectral pattern recognition; microwave sensing; and remote sensing from space.

Evaluating the potential of multispectral airborne lidar for topographic mapping and land cover classification

TL;DR: This paper presents an explorative analysis of the first airborne collected data with focus on class specific spectral signatures, and shows that this first flight data set is suitable for conventional geometrical classification and mapping procedures.

Spectral sensitivity of ALOS, ASTER, IKONOS, LANDSAT and SPOT satellite imagery intended for the detection of archaeological crop marks

TL;DR: IKONOS RSR filters can better distinguish buried archaeological remains as a result of difference in healthy and stress vegetation, and is different from the rest of sensors compared in this study.

Identifying brown bear habitat by a combined GIS and machine learning method.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors attempted to identify brown bear habitat in southwestern part of Slovenia, a country lying on the north-western most edge of the continuous Dinaric-Eastern Alps brown bear population.
