Significance of dredging on sediment denitrification in Meiliang Bay, China: A year long simulation study

TLDR
In this article, the denitrification problem is addressed by denitrifying denitra-tion, which is defined as denitreconstruction of a denitred property.
Abstract

Phosphorus sorption and supply from eutrophic lake sediment amended with thermally-treated calcium-rich attapulgite and a safety evaluation

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the P sorption and supply from the thermally treated calcium-rich attapulgite amended eutrophic lake sediments as well as the ecological safety of material addition.

A review of ecological restoration techniques in fluvial rivers

TL;DR: In this article, three kinds of methods, i.e., physical, chemical and biological methods, are introduced in details for the rivers affected by water pollution, and the development of river restoration techniques shows the following trends: 1) the scale of ecological restoration is becoming larger; 2) ecological restoration measures are required to meet multiple objectives; and 3) the management of water environment is changing from water quality management to aquatic ecosystem management.

The effects of dredging on nitrogen balance in sediment-water microcosms and implications to dredging projects

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper collected sediment-water microcosms for evaluating the effects of dredging on nitrogen cycling and found that dredging may lead to ammonia release to water column in a short term, while ammonia release risk is low few years after dredging.

Performance of physical and chemical methods in the co-reduction of internal phosphorus and nitrogen loading from the sediment of a black odorous river.

TL;DR: Investigation of the effectiveness of sediment dredging, intermittent aeration, and in situ inactivation with modified clays to reduce the internal loading of sediment from a seriously polluted river indicated that clay inactivation is the best method for controlling theinternal loading of both phosphorus and nitrogen inSeriously polluted river sediment.

Depth-dependent variations of sedimentary dissolved organic matter composition in a eutrophic lake: Implications for lake restoration

TL;DR: There existed a significant negative correlation between the short-range ordered (SRO) minerals and the total dissolved organic carbon concentration or the relative contents of lignins and condensed aromatics, suggesting that SRO mineral sorption plays a significant role in controlling the composition heterogeneity and releasing of DOM in lake sediments.
