TLDR
Alumina, activated at 800° and partially deactivated with 5% by weight of water, was found to be the most efficient and silica columns were more effective in the separation of pesticides by differential elution.

Organochlorine and heavy metal residues in harbour seals from the wadden sea and their possible effects on reproduction

TL;DR: The conclusion is drawn that the observed decrease in the reproductive success of the Dutch seal population correlates strongly with the high concentrations of PCB's in the tissues.
Journal ArticleDOI

Trace analysis of pesticides by gas chromatography

TL;DR: The role of gas chromatography as an analytical tool in combination with currently used or recently developed sample preparation techniques is described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Toxicokinetics in fish: Accumulation and elimination of six chlorobenzenes by guppies

TL;DR: In this paper, the kinetics of six chlorobenzenes in guppies were studied in an accumulation and elimination experiment, and a parabolic curve, with an optimum at log Poct ≈ 5.4, appeared to be a better description of the relation of the uptake rate constant with log poct, than a straight line.

Method for the analysis of polybrominated diphenylethers in sediments and biota

TL;DR: In this paper, three institutes worked together on the development and improvement of methods for the analysis of polybrominated diphenylethers (PBDEs) in sediments and biota.
Journal ArticleDOI

A model for the bioaccumulation of chlorobiphenyl congeners in marine mammals.

TL;DR: Blood samples can be a useful tool in monitoring programmes of chlorobiphenyl concentrations because the ratios between persistent and metabolizable congeners differed between specimens, and it was not possible to derive 'dioxin type' toxic equivalents from concentrations of congeners occurring at much higher concentrations by calculation of their ratios.

A rapid micromethod of sample cleanup for gas chromatographic analysis of insecticidal residues in plant, animal, soil, and surface and ground water extracts.

TL;DR: A simple microcolumn chromatographic cleanup method for chlorinated and organophosphorus insecticides has been developed in which a high purity grade 950 of activated silica gel (60–200 mesh) is used.
