Correlates of adults' participation in physical activity: review and update.
TL;DR: There remains a need to better understand environmental influences and the factors that influence different types of PA and longitudinal and intervention studies will be required if causal relationships are to be inferred.

Promoting ecosystem and human health in urban areas using Green Infrastructure: A literature review
Konstantinos Tzoulas,Kalevi Korpela,Stephen Venn,Vesa Yli-Pelkonen,Aleksandra Kazmierczak,Jari Niemelä,Philip James +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a conceptual framework of associations between urban green space and ecosystem and human health is proposed, which highlights many dynamic factors, and their complex interactions, affecting ecosystem health and human Health in urban areas.

Inequality in the Built Environment Underlies Key Health Disparities in Physical Activity and Obesity
TL;DR: Assessment of the geographic and social distribution of PA facilities and how disparity in access might underlie population-level PA and overweight patterns in US adolescents found inequality in availability ofPA facilities may contribute to ethnic and SES disparities in PA and obese patterns.

Environmental factors associated with adults' participation in physical activity: a review
TL;DR: Physical environment factors have consistent associations with physical activity behavior and further development of ecologic and environmental models, together with behavior-specific and context-specific measurement strategies, should help in further understanding of these associations.

The theory of planned behavior
TL;DR: Ajzen, 1985, 1987, this article reviewed the theory of planned behavior and some unresolved issues and concluded that the theory is well supported by empirical evidence and that intention to perform behaviors of different kinds can be predicted with high accuracy from attitudes toward the behavior, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control; and these intentions, together with perceptions of behavioral control, account for considerable variance in actual behavior.

Social Foundations of Thought and Action

Health behavior and health education : theory, research, and practice
TL;DR: There are evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for most major behavioral health risks, including tobacco use, unhealthy diet, sedentary lifestyle, risky drinking, and diabetes management and there are parallel research-based guidelines for the health care system changes and policies needed to assure their delivery and use.
