Somatic embryogenesis and plant regeneration from undeveloped ovules and stigma/style explants of sweet orange navel group [ Citrus sinensis (L.) Osb.]

TLDR
Somatic embryogenesis was induced and plant regeneration was obtained in 11 different genotypes of sweet orange navel group [Citrus sinensis (L.) Osb.] from cultures of stigma/style explants and undeveloped ovules from culture initiation.
Abstract
Somatic embryogenesis was induced and plant regeneration was obtained in 11 different genotypes of sweet orange navel group [Citrus sinensis (L) Osb] from cultures of stigma/style explants and undeveloped ovules Explants were cultured on 3 different modifications of Murashige and Skoog medium: 500 mg l-1 malt extract; 500 mg l-1 malt extract and 46 μM kinetin; and 500 mg l-1 malt extract and 133 μM 6-benzylaminopurine Sucrose (146 mM) was used as carbon source Somatic embryogenesis occurred 1–3 months after culture initiation from undeveloped ovule and stigma/style cultures of all the genotypes tested Somatic embryos developed into plantlets with a high frequency (74%) after transfer to Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with 146 mM sucrose and 500 mg l-1 malt extract Plants were successfully transferred to soil

Proteomic analysis of somatic embryogenesis in Valencia sweet orange (Citrus sinensis Osbeck).

TL;DR: Two dimensional gel electrophoresis combined with matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) and preferential representation for anti-oxidative proteins suggests that they could have a developmental role in citrus SE.

Organogenesis and encapsulation of in vitro-derived propagules of Carrizo citrange [ Citrus sinensis (L.) Osb. × Poncirius trifoliata (L.) Raf]

TL;DR: Examination of the encapsulation of Carrizo citrange uninodal microcuttings showed that encapsulation did not negatively affect the viability, providing a satisfactory regrowth, and storage potential for 30 days at low temperature, and the results showed an efficient protocol to induce root formation in the micro cuttings.

Morphogenic gradients of adventitious bud and shoot regeneration in epicotyl explants of Citrus

TL;DR: The regions of the epicotyl farthest from cotyledons could be used as a source of explants in experiments of genetic transformation of the genotypes evaluated aiming to improve the efficiency of production of transgenic Citrus plants.

Elimination of Citrus psorosis virus by somatic embryogenesis from stigma and style cultures

TL;DR: Somatic embryogenesis appears to be a very promising technique for the production of healthy citrus stocks and loss of juvenile characters was observed in the first year of growth and was retained in plants propagated by grafting from thornless stems.

Micropropagation of Citrus

TL;DR: The importance of Citrus for the production of ornamental plants has increased considerably in recent years and essential oils, pectin, and marmalade, as well as candied and dried rinds, also have commercial value.

A revised medium for rapid growth and bio assays with tobacco tissue cultures

TL;DR: In vivo redox biosensing resolves the spatiotemporal dynamics of compartmental responses to local ROS generation and provide a basis for understanding how compartment-specific redox dynamics may operate in retrograde signaling and stress 67 acclimation in plants.
