Review of high-power microwave source research
TL;DR: In this article, the state-of-the-art in high-power microwave source research is reviewed, and the history and recent developments of both high-peak power and high-average power sources are reviewed in the context of four main areas of application: (1) plasma resonance heating and current drive; (2) rf acceleration of charged particles; (3) radar and communications systems; and (4) high peak power sources for weapons-effect simulation and exploratory development.
Journal ArticleDOI
Relativistic Brillouin flow in the high ν/γ diode
TL;DR: In this paper, Relativistic Brillouin solutions have been derived for electron flow in crossed electric and magnetic fields and an approximate analytical expression for the anode current is derived.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Study of the Ion Beam Intensity and Divergence Obtained from a Single Aperture Three Electrode Extraction System
TL;DR: In this article, the beam divergence and perveance of a single aperture three electrode extraction system using helium ions at energies between 10 and 30 keV were investigated. But the most critical parameter was the ratio of the radius of the first aperture to the distance between the first and second electrodes, the highest current density being obtained at values of this ratio less than 0.5.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electrostatic ion beam trap for electron collision studies
Oded Heber,P. D. Witte,A. Diner,K. G. Bhushan,Daniel Strasser,Y. Toker,Michael Rappaport,Itzik Ben-Itzhak,N. Altstein,Dirk Schwalm,Alexander Wolf,Daniel Zajfman +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a system combining an ion beam trap and a low energy electron target is described, in which the interaction between electrons and vibrationally cold molecular ions and clusters can be studied.
Journal ArticleDOI
Formation of double layers
P. Leung,A. Y. Wong,B. H. Quon +2 more
TL;DR: In this article, the formation of the low potential region on the basis of the space charge is explained by the electron drift current, and the particle distribution in the stable double layer establishes a potential profile, which creates electron and ion beams that excite plasma instabilities.
