TLDR
This work solves the stationary monochromatic radiative transfer equation with a multi-level Galerkin FEM in physical space and a spectral discretization with harmonics in solid angle and shows that the benefits of the concept of sparse tensor products, known from the context of sparse grids, can also be leveraged in combination with a spectralDiscretization.

Adaptive Petrov-Galerkin methods for first order transport equations !

TL;DR: Stable variational formulations are proposed for certain linear, unsymmetric operators with first order transport equations in bounded domains serving as the primary focus of this paper to adaptively resolve anisotropic solution features such as propagating singularities.

An Adaptive Sparse Grid Semi-Lagrangian Scheme for First Order Hamilton-Jacobi Bellman Equations

TL;DR: A semi-Lagrangian scheme using a spatially adaptive sparse grid to deal with non-linear time-dependent Hamilton-Jacobi Bellman equations, focusing in particular on front propagation models in higher dimensions which are related to control problems.

The Total Variation on Hypergraphs - Learning on Hypergraphs Revisited

TL;DR: A new learning framework on hypergraphs which fully uses the hypergraph structure is presented, and the key element is a family of regularization functionals based on the total variation on hyper graphs.

An Introduction to Hierarchical (H-) Rank and TT-Rank of Tensors with Examples

TL;DR: Based on this notion of rank, one can define a data-sparse representation of tensors involving O(dnk + dk^3) data for order d tensors with mode sizes n and rank k and derive rank bounds for tensors in one of the formats based on the ranks in the other format.

Radiative heat transfer

TL;DR: In this article, the Monte Carlo method for thermal radiation was used to estimate the radiative properties of one-dimensional Gray Media, and the method of Spherical Harmonics (PN-Approximation) was used for the same purpose.

Ray Effects in Discrete Ordinates Equations

TL;DR: In this paper, the nature of anomalous computational effects due to discretization of the angular variable in transport theory discrete ordinates approximations is analyzed and the origin of these effects is discussed.
