Spectroscopy of $A0620-00$: the mass of the black hole and an image of its accretion disc
TLDR
In this article, spectra of the black hole binary A0620-00 taken at Hα and Hβ were used to study the distribution of emission-line flux from its accretion disc.Abstract:
We present spectra of the black hole binary A0620-00 taken at Hα and Hβ to study the distribution of emission-line flux from its accretion disc. Using the spectra of Hα, we have measured the K-type companion star's radial velocity semi-amplitude and rotational broadening to be K 2 =433±3 km s −1 and v sin i=83±5 km s −1 . Accounting for the Roche-lobe geometry of the companion, the rotational broadening gives the mass ratio q=M 2 /M 1 =0.06 7±0.01. The disc contributes 6±3 per cent of the light at Hα and 17±3 per cent at Hβ, with the K star providing the rest. The masses of the compact object and K star derived from our values of K 2 and q are M 1 =(3.09±0.09)sin −3 i M ○. and M 2 =(0.21±0.04)sin −3 i M ○.read more

The rotational broadening of V395 Carinae. Implications on the compact object's mass
TL;DR: In this paper, the rotational broadening (v sini) of a binary X-ray binary 2S 0921-630 was measured using a single high signal-to-noise ratio absorption line profile calculated using the method of least squares deconvolution.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method to search for stellar-mass black hole (BH) candidates with giant companions from spectroscopic observations was proposed. But this method is not suitable for binary systems with unknown orbital periods.

Rotational Broadening Measurement for the Neutron Star X-Ray Transient XTE J2123–058
TL;DR: In this paper, the rotational broadening of the binary companion's stellar absorption lines was measured for the X-ray transient XTE J2123-058 and it was determined that the companion's projected rotational velocity is v sin i = 121 km s-1.8 s. This value is considerably larger than the measurements of v sini obtained previously for three other neutron star systems, where the values were between 34 and 65 km s 1.
