TLDR
In this paper, a statistical methodology that uses the intensity of earthquake shaking as a landslide triggering factor was proposed. But the results show that it can accurately interpret landslide distribution in the study area and predict the occurrence of landslides in neighboring regions.

Distribution pattern of earthquake-induced landslides triggered by the 12 May 2008 Wenchuan earthquake

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors presented the preliminary results of an extensive study of the mapping the distribution of landslides triggered by the Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan Province, China, on 12 May 2008.
Journal ArticleDOI

Challenges of analyzing multi-hazard risk: a review

TL;DR: The aim of this contribution is to give an outline of the challenges each step of a multi-hazard (risk) analysis poses and to present current studies and approaches that face these difficulties.

Three (nearly) complete inventories of landslides triggered by the May 12, 2008 Wenchuan Mw 7.9 earthquake of China and their spatial distribution statistical analysis

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper compared three (nearly) complete landslide inventories that were compiled from visual image interpretation, which differ in the manner in which the landslides are represented, either as polygons, centroid points, or top points.
Journal ArticleDOI

Landslide inventories: The essential part of seismic landslide hazard analyses

TL;DR: A detailed and accurate landslide inventory is an essential part of seismic landslide hazard analysis as discussed by the authors, which can then be used to perform seismic landslide hazards analysis and other quantitative analyses, such as earthquake hazard analysis.

Geostatistics for natural resources evaluation

TL;DR: In this article, an advanced-level introduction to geostatistics and Geostatistical methodology is provided, including tools for description, quantitative modeling of spatial continuity, spatial prediction, and assessment of local uncertainty and stochastic simulation.

Landslide hazard evaluation: a review of current techniques and their application in a multi-scale study, Central Italy

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used geomorphological information to assess areas at high landslide hazard, and help mitigate the associated risk, and found that despite the operational and conceptual limitations, landslide hazard assessment may indeed constitute a suitable, cost-effective aid to land-use planning.

Landslide hazard zonation: A review of principles and practice

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors give the definitions and principles of landslides, and identify causative conditions and processes (inherent or basic conditions, geology, geomorphology, hydrologic conditions and climate, vegetation, factors that change stress conditions and strength of materials).
