Rapid dissolution of cellulose in LiOH/urea and NaOH/urea aqueous solutions

TL;DR: The results from DSC and (13)C NMR indicated that LiOH/urea and NaOH/UREa aqueous solutions as non-derivatizing solvents broke the intra- and inter-molecular hydrogen bonding of cellulose and prevented the approach toward each other of the cellulose molecules, leading to the good dispersion of cellulOSE to form an actual solution.

Use of FT-IR Spectra and PCA to the Bulk Characterization of Cell Wall Residues of Fruits and Vegetables Along a Fraction Process

TL;DR: Infrared spectroscopy combined with Fourier transform (FT-IR) was used to evaluate differences among cell wall residues and among species after each step of sequential extraction of pectins and hemicelluloses.

Characterization of new natural cellulosic fiber from Cissus quadrangularis root.

TL;DR: The thermo gravimetric analysis indicates better thermal stability of the fiber up to 230°C, which is well within the polymerization process temperature.

Microstructural, physico-chemical and mechanical characterisation of Sansevieria cylindrica fibres – An exploratory investigation

TL;DR: The microstructural, physical, chemical and mechanical properties of Sansevieria cylindrica fibres are described for the first time in this paper, showing that the cross-sectional area and porosity fraction of the fibre were estimated to be approximately 0.0245mm 2 and 37%, respectively.

Structural analysis of glucans

TL;DR: Purity control of glucan fractions is necessary to evaluate the isolation and purification steps; more rigorous structural analyses of purified polysaccharides are required to clarify their structure.

The hydrogen bond network in I β cellulose as observed by infrared spectrometry

TL;DR: In this article, the FT-IR spectra of I β cellulose were recorded on films made of hydrothermally treated Valonia microcrystals and a critical analysis of the spectra allowed to propose a detailed assignment for most of the bands at wavenumbers higher than 800 cm −1.

Fourier transform IR and Raman spectroscopy and structure of carbohydrates

TL;DR: In this paper, a comparative study was made using IR and Raman spectroscopy of theoretical calculations of the vibrational spectra of a series of carbohydrates differing in the configuration of CO (CH) bonds in various positions of the pyranose ring.
