TLDR
In this article, a detailed parametric study of torsional coupling in earthquake-excited asymmetric buildings including the effects of soil-structure interaction is made, and the authors assess the changes in the lateral-torsional earthquake response of such structures in relation to rigidly based buildings, and make appropriate comparisons with current codified seismic provisions for coupling effects by empirical design procedures based on rigid base analysis of asymmetric building.

Seismic performance of multiple tuned mass dampers for soil-irregular building interaction systems

TL;DR: In this paper, the applicability of multiple tuned mass dampers on the vibration control of irregular buildings modelled as torsionally coupled structures due to base motions considering the soil-structure interaction (SSI) effect is investigated.

Active control of irregular buildings considering soil–structure interaction effects

TL;DR: In this paper, an H∞ direct output feedback control algorithm through minimizing the entropy, a performance index measuring the trade-off between H ∞ optimality and H 2 optimality, is implemented to reduce the seismic responses of TC structures.

Dynamic soil–structure interaction effects on the seismic response of asymmetric buildings

TL;DR: In this article, an approach is formulated for the linear analysis of three-dimensional dynamic soil-structure interaction of asymmetric buildings in the time domain, in order to evaluate the seismic response behavior of torsionally coupled buildings.

A study on the duration of strong earthquake ground motion

TL;DR: A simple definition of the duration of strong earthquake ground motion based on the mean-square integral of motion has been presented in this article, which is closely related to that part of the strong motion which contributes significantly to the seismic energy as recorded at a point and to the related spectral amplitudes.
