Introduction: Regenerative Medicine and Solid Organ Transplantation from a Historical Perspective

TL;DR: This chapter summarizes major advancements in both fields including vascular reconstruction, organ preservation, immunosuppression, operational tolerance, novel stem cell sources, biodegradable scaffolds, and new methods to develop vascularized organ units.
Journal ArticleDOI

Heart Transplant Using Hepatitis C-Seropositive and Viremic Organs in Seronegative Recipients.

TL;DR: DAA can be effective in treating hepatitis C viremia before and after OHT, with excellent recipient survival, and large clinical studies are needed to further evaluate the long-term outcomes of DAA therapy in patients after heart transplantation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vasomotor responses to decreased venous return: effects of cardiac deafferentation in humans

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that atrial deafferentation impairs reflex vasomotor control of the circulation in response to low‐ and high‐level LBNP, indicating that at cardiac transplant recipients who had undergone bicaval anastomoses may contribute to abnormal arterial pressure regulation.
Book ChapterDOI
