TLDR
In this article, the reaction of ruthenium tetroxide with some Δ 7,9(11) -sterols has been explored, and the reaction has been performed both at −70°C and room temperature using an equimolecular amount of the oxidant and acetone-water as solvent system in the absence of a cooxidant.

Preparation and characterization of the fullerene diols 1,2-C(60)(OH)(2), 1,2-C(70)(OH)(2), and 5,6-C(70)(OH)(2).

TL;DR: The simple fullerene diols C60(OH)2 and C70(OH 2 ) were prepared by addition of RuO4 followed by acid hydrolysis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Why are olefins oxidized by RuO4 under cleavage of the carbon-carbon bond whereas oxidation by OsO4 yields cis-diols?

TL;DR: All important points of the potential energy surface (PES) are reported, and the complete catalytic cycle for the oxidative cleavage of olefins by ruthenium tetraoxide is presented.

Ruthenium Tetroxide and Perruthenate Chemistry. Recent Advances and Related Transformations Mediated by Other Transition Metal Oxo-species

TL;DR: New processes, synthetic applications, theoretical studies and unusual transformations, published in the last eight years (2006–2013), in the chemistry of these two oxo-species will be covered in this review with the aim of offering a clear picture of their reactivity.

Efficient oxidation of phenyl groups to carboxylic acids with ruthenium tetraoxide. A simple synthesis of (R-γ-caprolactone, the pheromone of Trogoderma granarium).

TL;DR: In this article, a simple synthesis of (R)-γ-caprolactone employing Sharpless asymmetric epoxidation and the presented oxidation procedure as key steps is presented. But the procedure is compatible with other functional groups except for those that are quite acid sensitive.
