Abstract

Fifty-year sedimentary record of heavy metal pollution (Cd, Zn, Cu, Pb) in the Lot River reservoirs (France).

TL;DR: 137Cs activities and heavy metal concentration-depth profiles from sediment cores retrieved in 2001 from three reservoirs in the Lot River allow establishing a connection between the temporal evolution of the heavy metal pollution and historical changes in smelting and waste-treatment proceedings.

Anthropogenic components of heavy metal (Cd, Zn, Cu, Pb) budgets in the Lot-Garonne fluvial system (France)

TL;DR: In this paper, the mass balances of heavy metal (Zn, Cd, Cu and Pb) in the Lot-Garonne fluvial system have been established for 1999 and 2000.

Are growth and density quantitative indicators of essential fish habitat quality? An application to the common sole Solea solea nursery grounds

TL;DR: The combination of these variables appears to provide reliable indicators of habitat quality and anthropogenic pressure on nursery grounds, especially highlighting contaminated areas, and may contribute to improve assessment of environmental quality of essential fish habitats with the aim of a sustainable management of fisheries resources.

Early diagenesis of trace metals (Cd, Cu, Co, Ni, U, Mo, and V) in the freshwater reaches of a macrotidal estuary

TL;DR: In this article, the vertical profiles from the water column, including the maximum turbidity zone (MTZ) to the consolidated sediment were sampled in September 2000 in the freshwater reaches of the Gironde Estuary during a complete neap tide-spring tide cycle.

Relationship between ore deposits in river catchments and geochemistry of suspended particulate matter from six rivers in southwest France.

TL;DR: This study proves pumping/centrifugation to be the most appropriate sampling/separation technique (recovery, representativity, contamination) by comparing different methods of SPM recovery and shows that Cd and Zn are not the only trace elements of eco-toxicological relevance transported into the Gulf of Biscay by these six rivers.
