TLDR
In this article, it is shown that the current/potential curve of iron exhibits two anodic maxima, which can be explained by assuming an adsorption of a layer on the metal surface.

Electrochemical study of carbon steel corrosion in buffered acetic acid solutions with chlorides and H2S

TL;DR: In this article, the corrosion behavior of SAE 1018 carbon steel in buffered acetic acid (HAc) solutions containing chlorides, with and without H2S, was studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

A theoretical treatment of the kinetics of iron dissolution and passivation

TL;DR: In this article, the anodic behavior of highly pure iron in weak acid aqueous solutions which are free of oxygen and surface active compounds takes place in different ranges: active dissolution, transition range, prepassive range and passive state.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Kinetics of iron dissolution and passivation

TL;DR: In this paper, the anodic behavior of pure, recrystallized iron in acid sulphate and perchlorate solutions free of oxygen and surface active substance was investigated in the potential range between the active and passive states.

The dissolution and passivation of Fe and Fe-Cr alloys in acidified sulphate medium: Influences of pH and Cr content

TL;DR: In this paper, the steady state polarization curves of ferritic Fe Cr alloys, containing 7-12% Cr and immersed in 1M H 2 SO 4, exhibit two current maxima, i.e. two passivating processes take place at the electrode interface within two different voltage ranges.

Kinetics of Mild Steel Corrosion in Aqueous Acetic Acid Solutions

TL;DR: In this article, the kinetics of mild steel corrosion in aqueous acetic acid solution has been investigated by weight loss and polarization techniques at 25, 35 and 45°C. The results obtained by both the techniques are in good agreement, while the surface studies support the conclusions drawn from the weight loss method.

The electrode kinetics of the deposition and dissolution of iron

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the deposition and dissolution of Fe as a function of potential for constant solution compositions: Fe 2+ concentration at constant pH; pH at constant Fe2+ concentration; and the presence of the anions SO42−, Cl −, ClO4−, Ac− and NO3−.

Ellipsometric and radiotracer measurements of the passive oxide film on Fe in neutral solution

TL;DR: In this article, the thickness of the anodic oxde film on Fe in sodium borate butler solution was measured using tritiated water and the total content of water of the film was estimated to be equivalent to 1·99H2O, assuming the film to be γ-Fe2O3.
