The double sampling range chart

TLDR
The R chart and the S2 chart are the usual charts for monitoring process dispersion; however, the double sampling (DS) scheme has only be used with the S1 chart, and the difficulty in obtaining the properties of the DS R chart might explain the lack of papers dealing with this type of DS chart.
Abstract
The R chart and the S2 chart are the usual charts for monitoring process dispersion; however, the double sampling (DS) scheme has only be used with the S2 chart. The difficulty in obtaining the properties of the DS R chart might explain the lack of papers dealing with this type of DS chart. The S2 chart has the advantage of being more efficient than the R chart, but the same is not always observed with their DS versions. Depending on the size of the 2 samples, the DS R chart performs better. The trade-off between operational simplicity and power of detection might lead the practitioner to choose the DS R chart, even with the DS S2 chart signaling faster.

Joint statistical design of X̄ and s charts with combined double sampling and variable sampling interval

Pei-His Lee
- 01 Jan 2014 -
TL;DR: A comparison study shows that the DSVSI X¯ and s charts are better able to signal the shifts of both mean and variance than joint double sampling X¯And s chart, adaptive X¯and R charts, EWMA, and CUSUM charts.

The economic and economic statistical designs of synthetic double sampling X‾ chart

TL;DR: The numerical comparison demonstrates that the synthetic DS chart is economically superior to the synthetic and DS charts and the cost is minimized subject to statistical constraint.

A new double sampling X¯ control chart for monitoring an abrupt change in the process location

TL;DR: A new double sampling monitoring scheme, namely, the side-sensitive DS chart, to monitor the process mean is developed, and it was observed that the proposed chart presents a better overall performance than the existing DS chart.

A side-sensitive double sampling X¯ monitoring scheme with estimated process parameters

TL;DR: In statistical process monitoring (SPM), most of the monitoring schemes are designed assuming that the process parameters for the underlying distribution are known (i.e., Case K) as mentioned in this paper.

Revised triple sampling control charts for the mean with known and estimated process parameters

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a revised triple sampling chart, where the derivations of new formulae for computing the average run length of the triple sampling (TS) X¯ chart are derived.

Construction of double sampling s‐control charts for agile manufacturing

TL;DR: In this paper, the development of the DS s-charts for quickly detecting small shift in process standard deviation for agile manufacturing is presented, which is based on the same concepts in constructing the DS -charts and formulated as an optimization problem and solved with a genetic algorithm.
