TLDR
Although long-term results were favorable in many cases, resorption of the root was often seen and degeneration of vital elements followed and eventually produced a pulp that was replaced with a bonelike substance, both replants and transplants showed successful clinical results well beyond 2 years.

A microangiographic study of vascular changes in replanted and autotransplanted teeth of young dogs.

TL;DR: It seems, therefore, that replanted and autotransplanted teeth with open apices have a high potential for repair.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pulpal changes in replanted and autotransplanted immature teeth of dogs

TL;DR: In the majority of the teeth observed after 180 days, the soft tissue of the pulp was markedly reduced in cells and blood vessels, and in a few teeth, the original pulp tissue seemed to have survived.
Journal ArticleDOI

Autotransplantation of teeth: is there a role?

TL;DR: The aim of this paper is to underline the evidence based principles for successful autotransplantation and present the technique as a viable treatment option in present day orthodontic practice.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ankylosis of teeth following thermal injury.

TL;DR: Ankylosis persisted but a continuous remodeling process was taking place as evidenced by further resorption and bone formation until the end of the study (6 months).

A case of replantation of an upper lateral incisor: a histologic study.

TL;DR: In the distal part of the periodontal membrane a complete healing by primary union was observed and in other parts of the root resorption cavities, in places with hard-tissue repair, were seen.
Journal ArticleDOI

Homologous viable tooth transplantation. a clinical, immunologic, and histologic study.

TL;DR: Both clinical and radiographic evaluations suggest successful acceptance of these teeth by hosts, even though some of the specimens are going on the fourth year, and Histologic examination of one of the homotransplants suggests some replacement of tooth structure by viable bone, but the overwhelming mass of the specimen has retained its dental identity.
