TLDR
In this article, a two-fluid model was developed to predict the wall temperature of a tube during inverted-annular film-boiling (IAFB), which correctly accounts for the effects of flow variables such as mass flux, inlet subcooling, heat flux and pressure.

An experimental study on terrestrial cryogenic transfer line chilldown I. Effect of mass flux, equilibrium quality, and inlet subcooling

TL;DR: In this paper, the experimental results of the chilldown of a thin-walled stainless steel tube with liquid nitrogen under a wide range of pressures and mass fluxes in terrestrial gravity are presented.

Wall heat flux partitioning during subcooled forced flow film boiling of water on a vertical surface

TL;DR: In this article, a new correlation for the film collapse temperature was also deduced by considering the limiting case of heat flux to the subcooled liquid being equal to the wall heat flux.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical modeling of cryogenic chilldown process in terrestrial gravity and microgravity

TL;DR: In this article, a numerical model is developed to predict the cryogenic chilldown process of a vertical tube for both terrestrial and microgravity conditions, where the flow field is covered by four distinct regions, which are single phase vapor region, dispersed flow region, inverted annular flow region and single phase liquid region.
Journal ArticleDOI

Stability of a confined swirling annular liquid layer with heat and mass transfer

TL;DR: In this paper, a normal-mode stability analysis of annular liquid layers involving heat and mass transfer at the gas-liquid interface is performed, and the effects of various non-dimensional parameters on the instability of the flow are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Temporal Instability of a Confined Liquid Film with Heat and Mass Transfer

TL;DR: The Kelvin-Helmholtz instability of the cylindrical interface between the vapor and liquid phases of a fluid has been investigated when the vapor is hotter than the liquid and the physical model is....
