TL;DR: A scanning and transmission electron microscope study of canine jugular and femoral veins revealed that large numbers of white cells adhered to the vessel walls, passed through the endothelial intercellular junctions and accumulated in pockets between the endothelium and basement membrane.

TL;DR: In this paper, a mouse stasis model of venous thrombosis was used to investigate the role of the Galectin-3-binding protein (Gal3BP) and its receptor/ligand, Gal3 (gal3), and found that the Gal3BP and Gal3 were localized on vein wall, red blood cells, platelets, and microparticles, whereas leukocytes expressed gal3 only.
