••
TL;DR: Hereditary hydroxyacl-glutathione hydrolase (Glyoxalase II) deficiency was demonstrated in both homozygous and heterozygous form in kindred in which hereditary elliptocytosis was inherited independently.

••
TL;DR: The product of the enzymatic reaction and the reversible competitive inhibitors, S-(N -ethylsuccinimido)glutathione and glutathione disulfide, protect the enzyme against inactivation by o -iodosobenzoate and N -ethylmaleimide.
17 citations
••
TL;DR: It seems unlikely that S-alkylglutathiones will cause accumulation of ketoaldehydes in cells where both pathways for methylglyoxal degradation are in effective operation.

TL;DR: The purpose of this investigation was to determine, at least with respect to glyoxalase I, if the tumor has an effect on the chemical properties or structure of macromolecules in an organ removed from tumor locale and not histologically affected by its presence.
Abstract: The purpose of this investigation was (1) to isolate and purify glyoxalase I from the livers of normal DBA/lJ mice and the livers from mice bearing a lymphosarcoma tumor; and (2) to determine, at least with respect to glyoxalase I, if the tumor has an effect on the chemical properties or structure of macromolecules in an organ removed from tumor locale and not histologically affected by its presence
