TL;DR: The interaction between genotype and environment showed that temperature plays a key role in expression of the multi-flowering traitBesides genetic background, the possible relationship between various multi- Flowering regulatory genes such as FN, FNA, NEPTUNE, SN, DNE, HR and environmental factors was explored, and a comprehensive model explaining the multi -flowering traits is proposed.
Abstract: This study reports the development of a garden pea genotype 'VRPM-901-5' producing five flowers per peduncle at multiple flowering nodes, by using single plant selection approach from a cross 'VL-8 × PC-531' In addition, five other stable genetic stocks, namely VRPM-501, VRPM-502, VRPM-503, VRPM-901-3 and VRPSeL-1 producing three flowers per peduncle at multiple flowering nodes were also developed All these unique genotypes were of either mid- or late- maturity groups Furthermore, these multi-flowering genotypes were identified during later generations (F4 onward), which might be because of fixation of certain QTLs or recessive gene combinations Surprisingly, a common parent PC-531, imparting multi-flowering trait in ten cross combinations was identified Thus, the genotype PC-531 seems to harbor some recessive gene(s) or QTLs that in certain combination(s) express the multi-flowering trait The interaction between genotype and environment showed that temperature (11-20°C) plays a key role in expression of the multi-flowering trait besides genetic background Furthermore, the possible relationship between various multi-flowering regulatory genes such as FN, FNA, NEPTUNE, SN, DNE, HR and environmental factors was also explored, and a comprehensive model explaining the multi-flowering trait in garden pea is proposed

TL;DR: Investigation of the effect of foliar application of boron and zinc on growth and flowering characters in African marigold cv.
Abstract: A field experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of foliar application of boron and zinc on growth and flowering characters in African marigold cv. Pusa Narangi Gainda. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Block Design with three replications. Significant results were observed in all the parameters studied. Among the growth characters, maximum number of primary branches/plant was found with zinc sulphate at 1.0% and 1.5%. Whereas, boric acid at different levels positively influences the other growth characters. Maximum stem diameter and plant spread were found at Boric acid (0.1%). However, maximum leaf dry weight was noticed in boric acid treatment at 0.4%. Among the flowering characters, earliest bud initiation was observed with boric acid at 0.3% and ZnSO4 (0.25%). Zinc sulphate (1.0%) showed the significantly increased bud diameter, number of petals/flower, fresh and dry weight of flower. However, boric acid at different levels also proved to be significant for traits like early flowering at 0.3% level, increasing number of flowers/plant and bud length at 0.1% level and at 0.4% level it influenced peduncle length greatly.

TL;DR: Results revealed a highly significant correlation between the average sap volume/day and various morphological parameters of male inflorescences such as the peduncle girth and average rachillae length, proposed as potential indicators for the identification of superior germplasm with high sap yield.
Abstract: Arenga pinnata (sugar palm) is a multipurpose palm species with interesting economic potential, well known for the high sugar content of its sap. We characterized various morphological characteristics of male and female inflorescences and correlations between these parameters and sap yield were determined. We found strong correlations between peduncle girth and various morphological parameters in both types of inflorescence. Our results revealed a highly significant correlation between the average sap volume/day and various morphological parameters of male inflorescences such as the peduncle girth and average rachillae length. These morphological parameters are proposed as potential indicators for the identification of superior germplasm with high sap yield.

TL;DR: The gentic components and regression analysis for grain yield and various morphological traits in bread wheat involving 10 parents and their 45 F1s during 2012- 13 and 2013-14 indicated that expression of these traits is control by both additive and dominance gene action.
Abstract: The present study was conducted to estimate the gentic components and regression analysis for grain yield and various morphological traits in bread wheat involving 10 parents and their 45 F1s (half diallel) during 2012- 13 and 2013-14. Significant additive (D) and dominance (H1) variance for the traits indicated that expression of these traits is control by both additive and dominance gene action. Average degree of dominance (H1/D)1/2 were more than unity for the traits (peduncle length, flag leaf area, productive tillers, biological yield, grain yield, harvest index) indicating the preponderance of over dominance gene action. The estimates of h2 were positive and significant for days to ear emergence, peduncle length, productive tillers, biological yield and grain yield indicated dominance of genetic components in F1s. Positive and significant values of F were estimated for days to ear emergence, days to 50% flowering, spike length, flag leaf area and grain yield in F1s indicating the preponderance of dominance and positive genes in the parents involved. The theoretical value (0.25) of (H2/4H1) for all the traits indicated asymmetrical distribution of positive and negative genes. The proportion of dominant and recessive alleles indicated presence of dominant alleles in the parents. The traits showing more than 30% narrow sanse heritability could be rewarding for further improvement in grain yield in bread wheat. Regression analysis indicated that the traits (days to ear emergence, days to 50% flowering, peduncle length, flag leaf area, productive tillers, harvest index, biological yield and grain yield) control by over dominance type of gene action. The parent RAJ 4246 contained maximum dominant genes for days to ear emergence and days to 50% flowering; HD 2733 for spike length and flag leaf area and HD 2824 for productive tillers, biological yield and grain yield used as donors in multiple traits breeding programme to develop high yielding wheat genotypes.

TL;DR: Results of cluster analysis shows a grouping of populations in two groups:1) the southeast group, and 2) group consist of populations from northwest, east and southeast of Serbia, indicating presence of ecotypes.
Abstract: Beech is the most important tree species in forests of Serbia. However, despite its significance, the taxonomic status of beech in Serbia is unclear. Morphology of the cupules can be successfully used to distinguish species and within species taxa. In this paper we report results on cupules morphology, measuring the same attributes reported by Misic (1955): 1) Length of the longest valve of cupule, 2) Width of that valve (at widest point), 3) Distance between base of the longest valve and peduncle, 4) Length of cupule without peduncle, and 5) Length of peduncle. The length of cupule and peduncle length from 12 populations in Serbia are in the range reported for Fagus sylvaticain Serbia and western Eurasia. Results of cluster analysis shows a grouping of populations in two groups:1) the southeast group, and 2) group consist of populations from northwest, east and southeast of Serbia. Populations from this southeast group also consist the group of populations on altitude over 850 m, indicating presence of ecotypes. The exception is population from Stara Planina (1,520 m a.s.l.) which is grouped with populations from altitudes under 850 m. Keywords: European Beech; cupules; variability

TL;DR: The patient complained of pain and was diagnosed as ectopic pregnancy according to the results of βhCG and ultrasonography, and the peduncle was electrocauterized, the gestational product was removed from the abdomen by the endobag.
Abstract: ABS TRACT Abdominal pregnancy is an uncommon form of ectopic gestation with a higher incidence of maternal morbidity and mortality. Ultrasonography and βhCG levels are useful for early detection of ectopic pregnancy. Meticulous surgical exploration is crucial for the definitive diagnosis in abdominal pregnancy. Abdominal pregnancy with an extraordinary presentation is summarized in the current case report. Seven weeks pregnant patient complained of pain and was diagnosed as ectopic pregnancy according to the results of βhCG and ultrasonography. Laparoscopic findings were consistent with normal uterus, bilateral adnexae and intraabdominal bleeding. The ectopic gestational product with adherent blood clot was observed free in the abdomen, connected to the left tuba with only a thin peduncle. The peduncle was electrocauterized, the gestational product was removed from the abdomen by the endobag. Abdominal pregnancy may be free in the abdomen, connected to the fallopian tube with a peduncle. Simple excision of the peduncle will enable the surgical treatment.

TL;DR: Morphological parameters of specimens from the Black Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, and the North America coast have been compared and some differences should be taken into account when carrying out hydrobiological research.
Abstract: An illustrated description of morphology of Monocorophium insidiosum Crawford, 1937 from the Crimean coastal waters is given. In this work, 744 specimens from different locations and substrates of the Crimean coastal waters have been analyzed. The main specific parameters of species from the Crimean coastal waters are as follows: rostrum of males is about one half of first article of antenna I length, dactylus of gnathopod II is equipped with 2–4 additional spines along the inner side (both for males and females). Variability is observed in parameters of the following parts: first article of antenna I peduncle, fourth article of antenna II peduncle, inner side of gnathopod II dactylus, and outer sides of the outer and inner rami of uropod II. Morphological parameters of specimens from the Black Sea, the Mediterranean Sea (literature data), and the North America coast (Vancouver area, literature data) have been compared. Specimens from the Black Sea are morphologically similar, but have some differences from the North American ones. In particular, first article of antenna I peduncle of specimens from the North America have conical process (specimens from the Black Sea have rounded process); fifth article of antenna II peduncle is with proximal medial tooth (specimens from the Black Sea are without proximal medial tooth); and outer ramus of uropod II has medial spine (Mediterranean specimens are without such a spine). These differences should be taken into account when carrying out hydrobiological research.
