TL;DR: In this paper, a remote control device for controlling a plurality of controllable devices, and a method for controlling devices using a remote controller was presented, where the program module generates a screen displayable on the display screen that includes different locations for playback, and the mechanism for the user to select one of the different location for playback.
Abstract: A remote control device for controlling a plurality of controllable devices, and a method for controlling devices using a remote control device. The remote control device includes a processor, a display screen coupled to the processor, and memory coupled to the processor, the memory including a program module to solicit information from a user. The program module has access to information regarding the operation of the plurality of controllable devices and which controllable device performs a selected function during operation of an activity. The program module generates a screen displayable on the display screen that includes different locations for playback, and a mechanism for the user to select one of the different locations for playback. As a result of a user providing the remote control device with an indication of the selected location for playback, and an item for playback at the selected location, the remote control device causes playback of the item at the selected location.

TL;DR: In this article, a decentralized asynchronous parallel-configured wireless communication system for voice, data and live digital video streaming communication with the ability to select various communication paths and calling bandwidths as needed is presented.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to devices and methods that provide a user of a decentralized asynchronous parallel-configured wireless communication system for voice, data and live digital video streaming communication with the ability to select various communication paths and calling bandwidths as needed. The system uses a novel Time-Shared Full Duplex (TSFD) protocol for communications. The TSFD protocol allows the transmission of live digital video signals from one wireless device to another wireless device. The system provides local communication as well as optional links to external networks, and does not require a synchronous centralized switching center. It further provides secure operation, emergency notification and a way to collect revenue from the system, and allows for control of the operational state of the internal network and optional remote control of the operational state control of systems external to the network.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an electronic apparatus and method for management of communications between channel master (e.g., audio player), responding device (i.e., remote control/headphones) and, optionally, passive devices wirelessly connected in a wireless audio network.
Abstract: Electronic apparatus and method are provided for management of communications between channel master (e.g. audio player), responding device (e.g. remote control/headphones) and, optionally, passive devices (e.g. headphones) wirelessly connected in a wireless audio network. The channel master transmits, and the responding device receives, audio signals and network management information. Profile negotiation means communicates application profiles for the devices, establishing at least one application profile which is common to them and designating a selected, common application profile for use in associating the devices. Channel selection means selects a channel for the communications using an ordered selection of channels (PCS) obtained from scanning the channels for idle channels and ordering the scanned channels according to priority based on channel quality. Normalized control and status interfaces establish interoperability between devices which use different data streams to communicate in the network.

TL;DR: A remotely controllable outlet system with mechanism for home power management and the software module by Visual Basic .NET supports the graphic user interface (GUI) to let users easily monitor the home electric appliances power on/off.
Abstract: In this paper, we describe a remotely controllable outlet system with mechanism for home power management. The system consists of four blocks: the Bluetooth Power-Controlled Outlet Module (BPCOM), the home server, the remote control and the GSM channel. Bluetooth, wireless system can control the home electric appliances wirelessly at home without new wiring. The BPCOM integrates the multiply AC power sockets and a simple plug-in low-power microcontroller performs the power on/off switching of the sockets. In addition, the power detection circuits are used by the Hall current transducer to verify home electric appliance power on/off status. For the power management module of the home server, we designed the software module by Visual Basic .NET, which supports the Graphic User Interface (GUI) to let users easily monitor the home electric appliances power on/off. We also integrate Bluetooth to receive/transmit between the home server and the microcontroller. The remote control also provides the users with the ability to control home appliances power on/off through the Internet and the GSM channel linked to the home server in order to receive the SMS (Short Message Service) for the power management of the home electric appliances power on/off anytime and anywhere.
