TL;DR: In this article, a solgel process was used to produce glasses of the composition (wt.%) 66% SiO 2 -18%B 2 O 3 -7%Al 2 O3 -3%BaO-6%Na 2 O. The densification of both the monolithic gels and thin films was investigated by thermal gravimetric analysis combined with dilatometry (monoliths) and ellipsometry (films).
