Journal ArticleDOI
Antileukemic Effect of Graft-versus-Host Disease in Human Recipients of Allogeneic-Marrow Grafts
TL;DR: The apparent antileukemic effect was more marked in patients with lymphoblastic than nonlymphoblastic leukemia, and in those who received transplants during relapse rather than during remission, and was most evident during the first 130 days after transplantation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Marrow transplantation for acute nonlymphoblastic leukemia in first remission.
Thomas Ed,Buckner Cd,Reginald A. Clift,A Fefer,F. L. Johnson,Paul E. Neiman,George E. Sale,Jean E. Sanders,Jack W. Singer,Howard M. Shulman,Rainer Storb,Paul L. Weiden +11 more
TL;DR: This work has reported the application of this approach combined with intensive chemotherapy treatment for bone marrow transplantation without regard to marrow toxicity in patients with central giant cell granuloma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of acute and chronic graft-versus-host disease on relapse and survival after bone marrow transplantation from HLA-identical siblings as treatment of acute and chronic leukemia [published erratum appears in Blood 1989 Aug 15;74(3):1180]
Keith M. Sullivan,Paul L. Weiden,Rainer Storb,Robert P. Witherspoon,A Fefer,LD Fisher,Buckner Cd,Claudio Anasetti,FR Appelbaum,Christopher C. Badger +9 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that acute and chronic GVHD were associated with a durable antileukemic effect and improved survival in patients transplanted in advanced stages of ALL and CML.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of In Vitro Depletion of T Cells in HLA-Identical Allogeneic Marrow Grafts
Paul J. Martin,J.A. Hansen,C. D. Buckner,Jean E. Sanders,H. J. Deeg,Patricia S. Stewart,FR Appelbaum,Reginald A. Clift,A Fefer,Robert P. Witherspoon +9 more
TL;DR: Optimal application of in vitro manipulation of donor marrow as a method for preventing graft-versus-host disease will require more effective immunosuppression of the recipient in order to assure sustained engraftment and function of donor stem cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Graft-versus-Host Disease as Adoptive Immunotherapy in Patients with Advanced Hematologic Neoplasms
Keith M. Sullivan,Rainer Storb,Buckner Cd,A Fefer,LD Fisher,Paul L. Weiden,Robert P. Witherspoon,FR Appelbaum,M Banaji,John A. Hansen +9 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that abbreviating methotrexate prophylaxis or infusing donor buffy-coat cells increased the incidence of acute GVHD and related mortality without alteringThe incidence of chronic GV HD or the recurrence of malignant disease.
