Highly coherent and stable pulses from the FERMI seeded free-electron laser in the extreme ultraviolet

TL;DR: In this paper, the FERMI free-electron laser operating in the high-gain harmonic generation regime was demonstrated, allowing high stability, transverse and longitudinal coherence and polarization control.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mammography with synchrotron radiation: first clinical experience with phase-detection technique.

TL;DR: It is suggested that mammography with synchrotron radiation can be used to clarify cases of questionable or suspicious breast abnormalities identified at DM and ultrasonography.
Journal ArticleDOI

Medical applications of synchrotron radiation at the SYRMEP beamline of ELETTRA

TL;DR: The main purpose of the SYRMEP (SYnchrotron Radiation for MEdical Physics) research team is the investigation and development of innovative techniques for medical imaging as mentioned in this paper, and a dedicated beamline has been built at ELETTRA to evaluate the effectiveness of synchrotram-based techniques in medical radiology with particular interest to mammography, and more in general, to the imaging of biological and biomedical samples, either in planar or tomographic set-ups.
