Trends in Hospitalization for Atrial Fibrillation: Epidemiology, Cost, and Implications for the Future
Azfar Sheikh,Nileshkumar J. Patel,Nikhil Nalluri,Kanishk Agnihotri,Jonathan Spagnola,Aashay Patel,Deepak Asti,Ritesh Kanotra,Hafiz Khan,Chirag Savani,Shilpkumar Arora,Nilay Patel,Badal Thakkar,Neil Patel,Dhaval Pau,Apurva Badheka,Abhishek Deshmukh,Marcin Kowalski,Juan F. Viles-Gonzalez,Hakan Paydak +19 more
TL;DR: The trends in epidemiology, hospitalization, and cost of AF are reviewed along with its future implications on public health.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement versus surgical aortic valve replacement in patients with cirrhosis.
Badal Thakkar,Aashay Patel,Bashar Mohamad,Nileshkumar J. Patel,Parth Bhatt,Ronak Bhimani,Achint Patel,Shilpkumar Arora,Chirag Savani,Shantanu Solanki,Rajesh Sonani,Samir H. Patel,Nilay Patel,Abhishek Deshmukh,Tamam Mohamad,Cindy L. Grines,Michael W. Cleman,Abeel A. Mangi,John K. Forrest,Apurva Badheka +19 more
TL;DR: To compare the in‐hospital outcomes in cirrhosis patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) versus those undergoing surgical aorta replacement (SAVR) with a comparison of the two methods, data are presented on patients who underwent surgery and those who did not.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cellular and ionic basis of J-wave syndromes.
TL;DR: J-wave syndromes are disorders of ventricular repolarization characterized by prominent J waves on the ECG and have the potential to predispose affected individuals to lethal ventricular arrhythmias, so future research should focus on evaluating the arrhythogenic potential of patients with pathogenic genotypes and/or J waves and no history of VF.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic impact of atrial fibrillation on clinical outcomes of acute coronary syndromes, heart failure and chronic kidney disease.
Nileshkumar J. Patel,Aashay Patel,Kanishk Agnihotri,Dhaval Pau,Samir V. Patel,Badal Thakkar,Nikhil Nalluri,Deepak Asti,Ritesh Kanotra,Sabeeda Kadavath,Shilpkumar Arora,Nilay Patel,Achint Patel,Azfar Sheikh,Neil Patel,Apurva Badheka,Abhishek Deshmukh,Hakan Paydak,Juan F. Viles-Gonzalez +18 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that AF has an independent adverse prognostic impact on the clinical outcomes of acute coronary syndromes, heart failure and chronic kidney disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of Hospital Volume on Outcomes of Endovascular Stenting for Adult Aortic Coarctation.
Parth Bhatt,Nileshkumar J. Patel,Achint Patel,Rajesh Sonani,Aashay Patel,Sidakpal S. Panaich,Badal Thakkar,Chirag Savani,Sunny Jhamnani,Nilay Patel,Nish Patel,Sadip Pant,Samir H. Forrest,Apurva Badheka +25 more
TL;DR: Stenting adults for CoA is remarkably safe, and the outcomes of the procedure have improved in centers with annual hospital volume of ≥3 procedures, there is also decreasing trend of procedure-related complications, shorter LOS, and lower costs compared to center with annual volume <3 procedures.
