Journal ArticleDOI
Episodic Ataxia Type 2 (EA2) and Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 6 (SCA6) Due to CAG Repeat Expansion in the CACNA1A Gene on Chromosome 19p
Carla Jodice,Elide Mantuano,Liana Veneziano,Flavia Trettel,G. Sabbadini,L. Calandriello,Ada Francia,Maria Spadaro,Francesco Pierelli,Fabrizio Salvi,Roel A. Ophoff,Rune R. Frants,Marina Frontali +12 more
TL;DR: The results show that EA2 and SCA6 are the same disorder with a high phenotypic variability, at least partly related to the number of repeats, and suggest that the small CAG expansions may not be as stable as previously reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intravenous immunoglobulin versus intravenous methylprednisolone for chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy: a randomised controlled trial
Eduardo Nobile-Orazio,Dario Cocito,S. Jann,Antonino Uncini,Ettore Beghi,Paolo Messina,Giovanni Antonini,Raffaella Fazio,Francesca Gallia,Angelo Schenone,Ada Francia,Davide Pareyson,Lucio Santoro,Stefano Tamburin,R. Macchia,Guido Cavaletti,Fabio Giannini,Mario Sabatelli +17 more
TL;DR: Treatment of CIDP with IVIg for 6 months was less frequently discontinued because of inefficacy, adverse events, or intolerance than was treatment with intravenous methylprednisolone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuropsychiatric lupus syndromes: relationship with antiphospholipid antibodies.
Antonella Afeltra,Pierluigi Garzia,Anna Paola Mitterhofer,M. Vadacca,Sara Galluzzo,Flavia Del Porto,Licia Finamore,Stefano Pascucci,Marina Gasparini,Bruno Laganà,Domenico Caccavo,Giovanni M. Ferri,Antonio Amoroso,Ada Francia +13 more
TL;DR: The authors assessed the prevalence of neuropsychiatric manifestations occurring in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (NPSLE), according to the American College of Rheumatology standardized definitions for NPSLE, and evaluated the relationship between NPSle and antiphospholipid antibodies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neurological Involvement in Primary Sjögren Syndrome: A Focus on Central Nervous System
Manuela Morreale,Pasquale Marchione,Patrizia Giacomini,Simona Pontecorvo,Massimo Marianetti,Claudio Vento,Emanuele Tinelli,Ada Francia +7 more
TL;DR: The higher prevalence of MWO-mimic headache, cognitive dys-esecutive syndrome and mood disorders observed in this series confirmed previous evidences of a higher diffused CNS compromission rather than focal involvement such as SM-like clinical course or NMO-like syndrome.
Journal ArticleDOI
