Journal ArticleDOI
Surface composition and electrical and electrochemical properties of freshly deposited and acid-etched indium tin oxide electrodes.
Michael T. Brumbach,P. Alex Veneman,F. Saneeha Marrikar,Thomas Schulmeyer,Adam G. Simmonds,Wei Xia,Paul A. Lee,Neal R. Armstrong +7 more
TL;DR: It is determined that acid activation and O2 plasma etching create an ITO surface that is still covered with an average of one to two monolayers of hydroxide, suggesting that these electroactive sites arise from near-surface tin enrichment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Elemental Sulfur and Molybdenum Disulfide Composites for Li-S Batteries with Long Cycle Life and High-Rate Capability.
Philip T. Dirlam,Jungjin Park,Adam G. Simmonds,Kenneth J. Domanik,Clay B. Arrington,Jennifer L. Schaefer,Jennifer L. Schaefer,Vladimir P. Oleshko,Tristan S. Kleine,Kookheon Char,Richard S. Glass,Christopher L. Soles,Chunjoong Kim,Nicola Pinna,Yung-Eun Sung,Jeffrey Pyun,Jeffrey Pyun +16 more
TL;DR: Cathodes fabricated with the high sulfur content composites as the active material afforded Li-S cells that exhibited extended cycle lifetimes of up to 1000 cycles with low capacity decay and demonstrated exceptional rate capability with the delivery of reversible capacity up to 500 mAh/g at 5 C.
Journal ArticleDOI
Elemental Sulfur as a Reactive Medium for Gold Nanoparticles and Nanocomposite Materials
Woo Jin Chung,Adam G. Simmonds,Jared J. Griebel,Eui Tae Kim,Hyo Seon Suh,In Bo Shim,Richard S. Glass,Douglas A. Loy,Patrick Theato,Patrick Theato,Yung-Eun Sung,Kookheon Char,Jeffrey Pyun,Jeffrey Pyun +13 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Directing the deposition of ferromagnetic cobalt onto Pt-tipped CdSe@CdS nanorods: synthetic and mechanistic insights.
Lawrence J. Hill,Matthew M. Bull,Younghun Sung,Adam G. Simmonds,Philip T. Dirlam,Philip T. Dirlam,Nathaniel E. Richey,Sean E. Derosa,In-Bo Shim,Debanjan Guin,Philip J. Costanzo,Nicola Pinna,Marc Georg Willinger,Walter Vogel,Kookheon Char,Jeffrey Pyun +15 more
TL;DR: Key synthetic considerations are discussed, with particular emphasis on reporting isolated yields of all intermediates and products from scale up of intermediate precursors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improving the charge conductance of elemental sulfur via tandem inverse vulcanization and electropolymerization
Philip T. Dirlam,Adam G. Simmonds,R. Clayton Shallcross,Kyle J. Arrington,Woo Jin Chung,Jared J. Griebel,Lawrence J. Hill,Richard S. Glass,Kookheon Char,Jeffrey Pyun +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the synthesis of polythiophene segments into poly(sulfur-random-1,3-diisopropenylbenzene) is achieved by the inverse vulcanization of S8 with a styrenic functional 3,4-propylenedioxythiophene (ProDOT-Sty) and DIB, followed by electropolymerization of ProDOT side chains.
