Adaptive Kalman Filtering for INS/GPS
Ahmed Mohamed,K. P. Schwarz +1 more
TL;DR: The detailed development of an innovation-based adaptive Kalman filter for an integrated inertial navigation system/global positioning system (INS/GPS) is given, based on the maximum likelihood criterion for the proper choice of the filter weight and hence the filter gain factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microbial hitchhikers on intercontinental dust: catching a lift in Chad
Jocelyne Favet,Aleš Lapanje,Adriana Giongo,Suzanne Kennedy,Yin-Yin Aung,Arlette Cattaneo,Austin G. Davis-Richardson,Christopher T. Brown,Renate Kort,Hans-Jürgen Brumsack,Bernhard Schnetger,Adrian Chappell,Jaap Kroijenga,Andreas Beck,Karin Schwibbert,Ahmed Mohamed,Timothy Kirchner,Patrícia Dörr de Quadros,Eric W. Triplett,William J. Broughton,William J. Broughton,Anna A. Gorbushina,Anna A. Gorbushina,Anna A. Gorbushina +23 more
TL;DR: Analysis of desert sand from various locations in Chad and dust that had blown to the Cape Verde Islands showed that the samples contained a large variety of microbes well adapted to the harsh desert conditions, suggesting that African dust is not a large threat to public health.
Estimating Angle of Attack and Sideslip Under High Dynamics on Small UAVs
TL;DR: Dr. Rick Lind is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Florida and specializes in flight dynamics and control for novel aerospace vehicles.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Novel Approach to Terrestrial Lidar Georeferencing
TL;DR: In this article, a non-linear georeferencing model based on skew-symmetric matrix is proposed to determine the absolute orientation of terrestrial lidar point clouds using GPS measurements from two antennas mounted on the optical head of a lidar scanner.
Journal ArticleDOI
Attitude Determination from GNSS Using Adaptive Kalman Filtering
Ahmed El-Mowafy,Ahmed Mohamed +1 more
TL;DR: The proposed adoptive filtering approach has a better performance than the conventional filter and different trajectory scenarios are presented to show the difference in performance between the adaptive Kalman filter and the conventional one.
