Journal ArticleDOI
Morinda citrifolia Linn leaf extract possesses antioxidant activities and reduces nociceptive behavior and leukocyte migration.
Mairim Russo Serafini,Rodrigo Correia Santos,Adriana Gibara Guimarães,João Paulo Almeida dos Santos,Alan D. C. Santos,Izabel Almeida Alves,Daniel Pens Gelain,Paulo Cesar de Lima Nogueira,Lucindo José Quintans-Júnior,Leonardo Rigoldi Bonjardim,Adriano Antunes de Souza Araújo +10 more
TL;DR: Investigation of the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antinociceptive, and antibacterial properties of the aqueous extract from M. citrifolia leaves suggest that properties of M.citr ifolia leaf extract should be explored further in order to achieve newer tools for managing painful and inflammation conditions, including those related to oxidant states.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of the cytotoxic activity of some Brazilian medicinal plants.
Sandra Santos Ribeiro,A.M. Jesus,C.S. Anjos,Thanany Brasil da Silva,Alan D. C. Santos,Jemmyson Romário de Jesus,Moacir S. Andrade,Taís Santos Sampaio,Wesley Faria Gomes,Péricles Barreto Alves,Adriana Andrade Carvalho,Cláudia Pessoa,Manoel Odorico de Moraes,Maria Lúcia B. Pinheiro,Ana Paula do Nascimento Prata,Arie Fitzgerald Blank,Renata Silva-Mann,Valéria Regina de Souza Moraes,Emmanoel V. Costa,Paulo Cesar de Lima Nogueira,Daniel P. Bezerra +20 more
TL;DR: Investigation of the cytotoxic potential of nine plants found in Brazil contributes to the understanding of the potentialities of Brazilian plants as sources of new anticancer drugs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities of aqueous extract from Remirea maritima (Cyperaceae).
Alessandra Silva Rabelo,I D Oliveira,Adriana Gibara Guimarães,Jullyana S.S. Quintans,Ana Paula do Nascimento Prata,Daniel Pens Gelain,E M Venceslau,João Paulo Almeida dos Santos,Lucindo Quintans,Leonardo Rigoldi Bonjardim,Andersson Barison,Francinete Ramos Campos,Alan D. C. Santos,Paulo Cesar de Lima Nogueira,Emmanoel V. Costa,Valéria Regina de Souza Moraes,Adriano Antunes de Souza Araújo +16 more
TL;DR: The biological and phytochemical investigations of the aqueous extract of Remirea maritima resulted in the identification of three flavone glycosides that have been described here for the first time in RemireA and effective analgesic activity in various pain models, probably mediated via the inhibition of peripheral mediators.
Journal ArticleDOI
Beneficial effects of the ethanol extract of Caesalpinia pyramidalis on the inflammatory response and abdominal hyperalgesia in rats with acute pancreatitis
Danielle Gomes Santana,Cliomar Alves dos Santos,Alan D. C. Santos,Paulo Cesar de Lima Nogueira,Sara M. Thomazzi,Charles dos Santos Estevam,Angelo R. Antoniolli,Enilton A. Camargo +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that EECp decreases inflammation, lipoperoxidation and hyperalgesia in CBDO-induced AP, making it of interest in future approaches to treat this condition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phytochemical characterization and antinociceptive effect of Lippia gracilis Schauer.
Adriana Gibara Guimarães,Silvana V. F. Gomes,Valéria Regina de Souza Moraes,Paulo Cesar de Lima Nogueira,Antonio G. Ferreira,Arie Fitzgerald Blank,Alan D. C. Santos,Monalisa D. Viana,Geraldo H. Silva,Lucindo José Quintans Júnior +9 more
TL;DR: Mice treated with ELg did not exhibit any behavioral alteration during the hot plate and rota-rod tests, suggesting non-participation of the supraspinal components in the modulation of pain by ELg and no motor abnormality.
