Surface brightness profiles and structural parameters for 53 rich stellar clusters in the Large Magellanic Cloud
Alasdair Mackey,Gerard Gilmore +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a pseudo-snapshot data set of two-colour observations from the Hubble Space Telescope archive for a sample of 53 rich LMC clusters with ages of 106-1010 yr was compiled and surface brightness profiles for the entire sample, and derived structural parameters for each cluster, including core radii, and luminosity and mass estimates.
Journal ArticleDOI
The properties of Galactic globular cluster subsystems
TL;DR: In this article, the properties of three subsystems of Galactic globular clusters, which are defined according to metallicity and horizontal branch morphology, are compared. And it is shown that the so-called "young" halo (YH) clusters exhibit characteristics which are clearly distinct from those of the 'old' halo and bulge/disc (BD) clusters, the majority of which are believed to be Galactic natives.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Large-scale Structure of the Halo of the Andromeda Galaxy. I. Global Stellar Density, Morphology and Metallicity Properties
Rodrigo A. Ibata,Geraint F. Lewis,Alan W. McConnachie,Nicolas F. Martin,Nicolas F. Martin,Mike Irwin,Annette M. N. Ferguson,Arif Babul,Edouard J. Bernard,Scott Chapman,Michelle L. M. Collins,Mark A. Fardal,Alasdair Mackey,Julio F. Navarro,Jorge Peñarrubia,R. Michael Rich,Nial R. Tanvir,Lawrence M. Widrow +17 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an analysis of the large-scale structure of the halo of the Andromeda galaxy, based on the Pan-Andromeda Archeological Survey (PAndAS), currently the most complete map of resolved stellar populations in any galactic halo.
Journal ArticleDOI
The properties of Galactic globular cluster sub-systems
TL;DR: In this article, the properties of three sub-systems of Galactic globular clusters, which are defined according to metallicity and HB morphology, are compared, focusing on cluster luminosities, structures, surface brightnesses (SB) and ellipticities.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Nucleus of the Sagittarius dSph Galaxy and M54: A Window on the Process of Galaxy Nucleation
Michele Bellazzini,Rodrigo A. Ibata,Scott Chapman,Scott Chapman,Alasdair Mackey,Lorenzo Monaco,Mike Irwin,Nicolas F. Martin,Geraint F. Lewis,Emanuele Dalessandro +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the results of a thorough study of the nucleus of the Sgr dwarf spheroidal galaxy (Sgr dSph) and of the bright globular cluster M54 (NGC 6715) that resides within the same nucleus.
