TL;DR: Preventive and therapeutic, WNT/β-catenin activation by lithium chloride attenuated experimental emphysema, as assessed by decreased airspace enlargement, improved lung function, reduced collagen content, and elevated expression of alveolar epithelial cell markers is indicated.

Free DNA in Cystic Fibrosis Airway Fluids Correlates with Airflow Obstruction

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that neutrophilic inflammation in CF airways is associated with abundant free DNA characteristic for NETosis, and suggested that free DNA may be implicated in lung function decline in patients with CF.
