Phase I / II trial of vemurafenib in dogs with naturally-occurring, BRAF-mutated urothelial carcinoma
Paul M Rossman,Tanja S. Zabka,Audrey Ruple,Dietrich Tuerck,José A. Ramos-Vara,Liling Liu,Rodrigo Mohallem,Mark Merchant,Jackeline Franco,Christopher M. Fulkerson,Ketaki Bhide,Matthew Breen,Uma K. Aryal,Elaine R Murray,Noel Dybdal,Sagar M. Utturkar,Lindsey M. Fourez,Alexander W. Enstrom,Deepika Dhawan,Deborah W. Knapp +19 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a phase I/II clinical trial of vemurafenib was performed in pet dogs with naturallyoccurring invasive urothelial carcinoma (InvUC) harboring the canine homologue of human BRAFV600E.
Journal ArticleDOI
Basal and Luminal Molecular Subtypes in Naturally-Occurring Canine Urothelial Carcinoma are Associated with Tumor Immune Signatures and Dog Breed
Breann C. Sommer,Deepika Dhawan,Audrey Ruple,José A. Ramos-Vara,Noah M. Hahn,Sagar M. Utturkar,Elaine A. Ostrander,Heidi G. Parker,Christopher M. Fulkerson,Michael O. Childress,Lindsey M. Fourez,Alexander W. Enstrom,Deborah W. Knapp +12 more
TL;DR: Dogs with InvUC could provide a valuable model for testing new treatment strategies in the context of molecular subtype and immune status, and the search for germline variants impacting InvUC onset and subtype.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of a naturally-occurring canine model for early detection and intervention research in high grade urothelial carcinoma
Deepika Dhawan,José A. Ramos-Vara,Sagar M. Utturkar,Audrey Ruple,Sarah A. Tersey,Jennifer Nelson,Bruce A. Cooper,Hock Gan Heng,Elaine A. Ostrander,Heidi G. Parker,Noah M. Hahn,L. Garry Adams,Christopher M. Fulkerson,Michael O. Childress,Patty L. Bonney,Christine Royce,Lindsey M. Fourez,Alexander W. Enstrom,Lisbeth A. Ambrosius,Deborah W. Knapp +19 more
TL;DR: In this paper , an early intervention trial of an oral cyclooxygenase inhibitor, deracoxib, was conducted in dogs with cancer detected through screening, and the results showed that the early intervention showed promising results.
Journal ArticleDOI
Targeted elastin-like polypeptide fusion protein for near-infrared imaging of human and canine urothelial carcinoma
Aayush Aayush,Saloni Darji,Deepika Dhawan,Alexander W. Enstrom,Meaghan M. Broman,Muhammad Idrees,Hristos Z. Kaimakliotis,Timothy L. Ratliff,Deborah W. Knapp,David H. Thompson +9 more
TL;DR: Ex vivo studies with resected canine and human bladder tissues showed minimal signal from normal adjacent tissue and significant NIR fluorescence labeling of tumor tissue, in good agreement with the in vitro findings.
