The Conspiracy Mentality Scale: Distinguishing between irrational and rational suspicion.
Ana Stojanov,Jamin Halberstadt +1 more
TL;DR: The existing measures of conspiracy theory beliefs have proven to be ineffective as mentioned in this paper, since they are associated with negative outcomes and are unidimensional constructions, which is not the case in the case of conspiracy theories.
Journal ArticleDOI
Does lack of control lead to conspiracy beliefs? A meta-analysis
Ana Stojanov,Jamin Halberstadt +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors question the theoretical foundations of this belief and meta-analyze existing published and unpublished studies to assess the overall effect of lack of control on conspiracy beliefs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Does Perceived Lack of Control Lead to Conspiracy Theory Beliefs? Findings from an online MTurk sample.
TL;DR: Across six studies conducted online using MTurk samples, no effect of control manipulations on conspiracy theory beliefs are observed, while replicating previously reported correlational evidence of their association.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: This article found that arousal is lowest at neutral valence and increases with both positive and negative valence: a symmetric V-shaped relationship, while valence is sometimes thought to be independent of arousal, but arousal was found to vary with valence.
Journal ArticleDOI
Perceived lack of control and conspiracy theory beliefs in the wake of political strife and natural disaster
TL;DR: This article found evidence for a possible link between lack of control and conspiracy beliefs in the real world, but the experimental evidence is mixed: the opposition, whose control was lowered after the name change, increased their conspiracy beliefs, but supporters did not.
