Chemical Munitions Search & Assessment—An evaluation of the dumped munitions problem in the Baltic Sea
Jacek Bełdowski,Zygmunt Klusek,Marta Szubska,Raisa Turja,Anna I. Bulczak,Daniel Rak,Matthias Brenner,Thomas Lang,Lech Kotwicki,Katarzyna Grzelak,Jaromir Jakacki,Nicolai Fricke,Anders Östin,Ulf Olsson,Jacek Fabisiak,Galina Garnaga,Jenny Rattfelt Nyholm,Piotr Majewski,Katja Broeg,Martin Söderström,Paula Vanninen,Stanisław Popiel,Jakub Nawała,Kari K. Lehtonen,Rune Berglind,Beata Schmidt +25 more
TL;DR: In this article, chemical warfare agents (CWAs) were found to be more scattered on the seafloor than suspected, and previously undocumented dumpsite was discovered in Gdansk Deep.
Journal ArticleDOI
Solvent-Assisted Trypsin Digestion of Ricin for Forensic Identification by LC-ESI MS/MS
TL;DR: The potential utility of organic solvent-assisted trypsin digestion of crude extracts containing the closely related toxins ricin or abrin to prepare samples for peptide analysis by liquid chromatography combined with electrospray ionization quadrupole time-of-flight tandem mass spectrometry is investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantification of melatonin in human saliva by liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry using stable isotope dilution
TL;DR: The HPLC-MS-MS method shows a high sensitivity and specificity for melatonin and more reliable results compared with a radioimmunoassay and has been used to determine the circadian rhythm of melatonin among three nurses working the night shift and a patient suffering from an inability to fall asleep at night.
Journal ArticleDOI
Direct Derivatization and Rapid GC-MS Screening of Nerve Agent Markers in Aqueous Samples
TL;DR: Method robustness was evaluated using aqueous samples from an official OPCW Proficiency Test and all APAs present in the sample were conclusively identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Arsenic concentrations in Baltic Sea sediments close to chemical munitions dumpsites
Jacek Bełdowski,Marta Szubska,Emelyan M Emelyanov,Galina Garnaga,Anna Drzewińska,Magdalena Bełdowska,Paula Vanninen,Anders Östin,Jacek Fabisiak +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, sediment samples were collected from officially reported and potential chemical weapon dumpsites located in the Baltic Sea, and total and inorganic arsenic concentrations were analyzed to examine the potential usage of arsenic contents results for monitoring the leakage from chemical weapons.
