Journal ArticleDOI
Relationship of Extreme Chromosomal Instability with Long-term Survival in a Retrospective Analysis of Primary Breast Cancer
Rebecca Roylance,David Endesfelder,Patricia Gorman,Patricia Gorman,Rebecca A. Burrell,Jil Sander,Ian Tomlinson,Andrew M. Hanby,Valerie Speirs,Andrea L. Richardson,Nicolai Juul Birkbak,Nicolai Juul Birkbak,Aron Charles Eklund,Julian Downward,Maik Kschischo,Zoltan Szallasi,Zoltan Szallasi,Charles Swanton,Charles Swanton +18 more
TL;DR: The paradoxical relationship between extreme CIN and cancer outcome in the ER-negative cohorts may explain why prognostic expression signatures, reflecting tumor CIN status, fail to predict outcome in this subgroup.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of Luminal Breast Cancers That Establish a Tumor-Supportive Macroenvironment Defined by Proangiogenic Platelets and Bone Marrow–Derived Cells
Hanna S. Kuznetsov,Timothy Marsh,Beth A. Markens,Zafira Castaño,April Greene-Colozzi,Samantha A Hay,Victoria Brown,Andrea L. Richardson,Sabina Signoretti,Elisabeth M. Battinelli,Sandra S. McAllister +10 more
TL;DR: A novel process by which certain luminal breast cancer cells and patient tumor specimens establish a systemic macroenvironment that supports outgrowth of otherwise-indolent disseminated tumors is discovered, highlighting the macroenvironment as an important component of disease progression that can be exploited to more accurately identify patients who would benefit from adjuvant therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reciprocal effects of STAT5 and STAT3 in breast cancer.
Sarah R. Walker,Erik A. Nelson,Lihua Zou,Mousumi Chaudhury,Sabina Signoretti,Andrea L. Richardson,David A. Frank +6 more
TL;DR: Using a model system of paired breast cancer cell lines, it is found that coactivation of STAT5 and STAT3 leads to decreased proliferation and increased sensitivity to the chemotherapeutic drugs paclitaxel and vinorelbine compared with cells that have only STAT3 activation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Large-needle core biopsy: Nonmalignant breast abnormalities evaluated with surgical excision or repeat core biopsy
Jack E. Meyer,Darrell N. Smith,Susan C. Lester,Pamela J. DiPiro,Christine M. Denison,Susan C. Harvey,Roger L. Christian,Andrea L. Richardson,William D. Ko +8 more
TL;DR: Correlation of the technical quality of the biopsy, imaging features, and pathologic findings resulted in 96 surgical excisions and 16 repeat biopsies of lesions initially considered nonmalignant.
Journal ArticleDOI
A neural survival factor is a candidate oncogene in breast cancer.
Dale Porter,Stanislawa Weremowicz,Koei Chin,Pankaj Seth,Aparna Keshaviah,Jaana Lahti-Domenici,Young Kyung Bae,Constance L. Monitto,Ana Merlos-Suarez,Jennifer A. Chan,Christine M. Hulette,Andrea L. Richardson,Cynthia C. Morton,Jeffrey R. Marks,Mabel P. Duyao,Ralph H. Hruban,Edward Gabrielson,Rebecca Gelman,Kornelia Polyak +18 more
TL;DR: It is hypothesized that dermcidin (DCD) may play a role in tumorigenesis by means of enhancing cell growth and survival in a subset of breast carcinomas.
