BRCA1 promoter methylation in sporadic breast tumors: relationship to gene expression profiles.
Evan Matros,Zhigang C. Wang,Gabriela Lodeiro,Alexander Miron,J. Dirk Iglehart,Andrea L. Richardson +5 more
TL;DR: It is found BRCA1 protein expression correlates with tumor mitotic rate, consistent with normal cell-cycle regulation of the BRCa1 gene, and the absence of BRC a1 promoter methylation and high levels of B RCA1 expression in basal-like sporadic tumors suggest alternate explanations for the phenotypic similarities of these tumors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immune Escape in Breast Cancer During In Situ to Invasive Carcinoma Transition.
Carlos R. Gil Del Alcazar,Sung Jin Huh,Muhammad B. Ekram,Anne Trinh,Lin Liu,Francisco Beca,Francisco Beca,Xiaoyuan Zi,Xiaoyuan Zi,Minsuk Kwak,Helga Bergholtz,Ying Su,Ying Su,Lina Ding,Hege G. Russnes,Andrea L. Richardson,Andrea L. Richardson,Kirsten Babski,Elizabeth Min Hui Kim,Charles H. McDonnell,Jon Wagner,Ron Rowberry,Gordon J. Freeman,Deborah A. Dillon,Therese Sørlie,Lisa M. Coussens,Judy Garber,Rong Fan,Kristie Bobolis,D. Craig Allred,Joon Jeong,So Yeon Park,Franziska Michor,Kornelia Polyak,Kornelia Polyak +34 more
TL;DR: A switch to a less active tumor immune environment during the in situ to invasive breast carcinoma transition is demonstrated, and immune regulators and genomic alterations that shape tumor evolution are identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
SIK1 Couples LKB1 to p53-Dependent Anoikis and Suppresses Metastasis
Hailing Cheng,Pixu Liu,Zhigang C. Wang,Lihua Zou,Lihua Zou,Stephanie Santiago,Victoria Garbitt,Ole Gjoerup,J. Dirk Iglehart,Alexander Miron,Andrea L. Richardson,William C. Hahn,William C. Hahn,Jean J. Zhao +13 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the serine-threonine kinase SIK1 (salt-inducible kinase 1) regulates p53-dependent anoikis, and the presence of functional Sik1 was required for the activity of the kinase LKB1 in promoting p 53- dependent ano Kikis and suppressing anchorage-independent growth, Matrigel invasion, and metastatic potential.
Journal ArticleDOI
STAT3 Induction of miR-146b Forms a Feedback Loop to Inhibit the NF-κB to IL-6 Signaling Axis and STAT3-Driven Cancer Phenotypes
Michael Xiang,Nicolai Juul Birkbak,Vida Vafaizadeh,Sarah R. Walker,Sarah R. Walker,Jennifer E. Yeh,Suhu Liu,Yasmin Kroll,Mark Boldin,Konstantin Taganov,Bernd Groner,Andrea L. Richardson,David A. Frank,David A. Frank +13 more
TL;DR: The results identify an epigenetic mechanism of crosstalk between STAT3 and NF-κB relevant to constitutive STAT3 activation in malignancy and the role of inflammation in oncogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
A non-genetic route to aneuploidy in human cancers
Matej Krajcovic,Nicole B. Johnson,Qiang Sun,Guillaume Normand,Nicholas Hoover,Evelyn Yao,Evelyn Yao,Andrea L. Richardson,Randall W. King,Edmund S. Cibas,Stuart J. Schnitt,Joan S. Brugge,Michael Overholtzer,Michael Overholtzer,Michael Overholtzer +14 more
TL;DR: A previously unknown mechanism of cytokinesis failure and aneuploid cell formation that operates in human cancers is defined.
