Phelps,Mark Rachel,Robert E. McCabe,Richard M. Novak,Jonathan Uy,Andrea Wendrow +35 more
TL;DR: Some host factors and factors associated with previous or current severity of HIV infection, especially CD4 T-lymphocyte cell count, appeared to have the strongest association with incidence of lipoatrophy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome: incidence and implications for mortality.
Richard M. Novak,James T. Richardson,Kate Buchacz,Joan S. Chmiel,Marcus D. Durham,Frank J. Palella,Andrea Wendrow,Kathy Wood,Benjamin Young,John T. Brooks +9 more
TL;DR: In this large US-based HIV-infected cohort, IRIS occurred in 10.6% of patients who responded to effective ART and contributed to increased mortality and approximately doubled the risk for all-cause mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Treatment-resistant alopecia areata. Response to combination therapy with minoxidil plus anthralin.
TL;DR: Combination therapy using drugs with probable different mechanisms of action may provide a synergistic effect in alopecia areata, and the rapidity and extent of hair regrowth were greater with combination therapy than with either drug used as a single agent.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The primary outcome was the difference in mechanical ventilation-free survival by day 29 between the two treatment groups in the modified intention-to-treat population.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of oral minoxidil in the treatment of alopecia areata.
TL;DR: It is suggested that improved preparations of topical minoxidil, when used as a single therapeutic agent, are unlikely to be cosmetically effective in the majority of patients with severe alopecia areata.
